"Fruitilicious" was the debut album of Moronic Changeling. Considered the invention of madcore, it was also considered something of a flop. "The world just wasn't ready for the mixed genre style of 'madcore'," says manager James Cruz-Bishop III, "or 'fruitcore' as we called it then."

SomeotherdayEdit

Someotherday

"Someotherday" art.

The soft love song "Someotherday" was considered Moronic Changeling's first "serious" song. It was also their first release outside the UK, venturing into Asian and Oceanic regions. Though it sold the most copies in the UK (around 86,000), Moronic Changeling were becoming increasingly popular in Asia, and it got its best chart position there.
The lyric to "Someotherday" was believed to be written by vocalist Kaethe Jenkins (née van Mouschi) about guitarist Justin Jenkins. He has been quoted as saying "this was the song which made me fall in love with her".
The girl on the cover of the "Someotherday" art, Sophy Catherine Kerry, was to be a member of the band later in life. She also helped the band write the two B-sides. The songs were to feature in her filmwriter sister Bikki Bunney's comedy army film "Frome Wars", which sadly never saw the light of day. Bunney would also become a member of Moronic Changeling later in life.
Selling just over 200,000 copies in total and high-charting at 157, "Someotherday" would be considered a flop to the band now, but it was quite good for a new band, and a big improvement on the sales of "Shop Assistant".

How Will I Go?Edit

How will i go

"How Will I Go?" art.

"How Will I Go?", a song about suicide, is somewhat controversial - some believe it to be related to the later suicide attempts of drummer Nick Biggs, others believe, as the band say, that it meant nothing in terms of the band, but was rather another song for "Frome Wars" storyline. Both the song "How Will I Go?" itself and its B-sides were co-written by Bunney and Kerry, as part of the soundtrack.
The cover art is meant to look like a military badge of some sort, but in red and black to symbolise death.
Yet another low-selling single, this time just breaking the 350,000 mark, the band were just beginning to get to their best.

Some LyricsEdit

SomeotherdayEdit

I see white smoke
On black sky
The stars have gone to sleep tonight but the moon is full and high
In this darkness
I'm alone
I wonder if there's anyone who knows I'm on my own

And your face comes into my mind
Do you know what a pathetic girl
You have left behind

Maybe someday you will walk my way
And I'll lift my head and smile at you but you'll walk away no matter what I do
Someday you'll think of what I say
And you'll wonder if the way I feel for you could be a love that's real
But my doubts are bigger than my dreams
And someday is far away it seems

They say this is
Just a phase
Then why am I stuck in my room I haven't dressed for days
Now you're laughing
I'm your joke
You're getting everything you want but all I have's my smoke

And your face though pretty it may be
You just don't know what disturbances
It has brought to me

Maybe someday you will walk my way
And I'll lift my head and smile at you but you'll walk away no matter what I do
Someday you'll think of what I say
And you'll wonder if the way I feel for you could be a love that's real
But my doubts are bigger than my dreams
And someday is far away it seems

Back To BedlamEdit

Sometimes in your life you need a way to disappear
When thunderstorms and lightning block the path closest to here
Sometimes in your life you need to try to get some help
You can get away from people but you can't get away from yourself

So I'm going back to Bedlam
Where the snow still falls
And this cold weightless life-form
Is desired within the walls
Now I go back to Bedlam
Where my heart can be strong
Because I need my Bedlam
And Bedlam is where I belong

Sometimes you are scared and it feels like there's no end
To the world that you fear where there's no such thing as a friend
Sometimes you are lost and you can't find the way to go
Run far away it's the only way because refuge is in the snow

So I'm going back to Bedlam
Where the snow still falls
And this cold weightless life-form
Is desired within the walls
Now I go back to Bedlam
Where my heart can be strong
Because I need my Bedlam
And Bedlam is where I belong

So you say that you're crazy all that's left is the dark of your mind
But when you go back to Bedlam there is inner peace you can find
So they say that you're nothing but an emptiness they should feed
But when you go back to Bedlam you will find the love that you need

So I'm going back to Bedlam
Where the snow still falls
And this cold weightless life-form
Is desired within the walls
Now I go back to Bedlam
Where my heart can be strong
Because I need my Bedlam
And Bedlam is where I belong

So I'll see you when I'm back to Bedlam
Because Bedlam you know it's where we belong

Random FactsEdit

  • The album is not named after their old band name - it's a word that Justin Jenkins made up, a quick way of saying "fruit is delicious".
  • "Someotherday" was originally named "Someday", until Nick Biggs referred to the name as "too cliché".
  • "Pritt Stick", a love song written by Justin Jenkins, was apparently his response to "Someotherday".
  • "You're Beautiful" was making fun of the James Blunt song of the same time period.
  • "Back To Bedlam" would have been the next single - it is apparently about Biggs's need to go into a mental hospital, though this is questionable.
  • "Naked Woman Drops Through Ceiling", a random jam by Biggs, was named after a topic that she saw on a forum.
  • "Back To Bedlam" and "Naked Woman Drops Through Ceiling" were re-recorded as B-sides to the single "The Love Embrace Of The Universe".
