The Holocaust EP

Alternative rock, experimental, punk

The Holocaust EP is an EP by British indie-pop group The Seymours. It was released on November 11, 2007 and peaked at #35 at the UK charts.

The EP was released prior to their second album and shocked the band's fanbase with its two lenghty, effect-laden experimental tracks. The band were however quick to ensure that it was only a couple of studio throwaways to compensate for the lack of updates.

"Caramel" was released to radio on a limited promotional CD, which is highly sought after by fans, and garnered respectable airplay even though its length. The track itself is gloomy and mellow, driven by Carl Pinchbeck's keyboards. It has, like the other tracks off the EP, never been performed live. According to Ian Picholl, "Caramel" is his "first attempt at using Cubase."

The concluding track "I Fought the Apemen of Mt. St. Helens" is over fifteen minutes long and easily one of the band's most complex songs. It features a looped sample of the ThunderWolf song "Black Box", along with distorted guitars and incomprehensible lyrics. Carl Pinchbeck calls it his "proudest moment."

Although the title of the EP is "The Holocaust EP", it is usually referred to as "Caramel" since the title is absent from the printed cover. It is erroneously sold as "Caramel E.P." on iTunes Music Store.

The sleeve depicts an edited photo of Danish-born actress Anna Karina in the 1962 movie Vivre sa vie.
